With over 30 different models to choose from, the Scavenger long tail mud motor offers the best variety of engine sizes. With a wide variety of name brand motors you get the best in a reliable long tail mud motor for your boat.
Recommended sizes:

Canoes and layout boats anything SB7 and under will work great.

Jon boats less that 14′ should stick to models SB14 and smaller.

For boats 14′ and larger we do recommend SB13 and larger.
The most popular model for a 14′ Jon boat is the SB13. This model offers the most horsepower in it’s weight category.
Boat motor speeds:

The maximum speed for models SB20 and under is about 16 mph.

The maximum speed for models over SB20 is 22 mph.
Scavengers use a belt drive reduction for maximum pushing power. This is similar to putting your truck into a lower gear. You may go a bit slower top end, but you’ll have way more power to push those heavy loads.

The Scavenger frames comes with everything you need to complete your shallow water mud motor. Included in the kit is the frame, propeller, handle, pulleys and belts, and in most cases the wiring for the engine. When ordering please let us know the engine you will be using so we can size the mud motor propeller for your Scavenger.
For transoms less than 14″, 60″ drives are available up to 9 horsepower.
